The Pain of Suffering

August 8th, 2011

I have been thinking a lot about this one????? Why is there suffering in the world? If God is Good, why is there bad? and the list can go on and on, the short answer is God our creator is good and created everything good. (check out Romans 8.) Genesis chapter 1 versus 31 ” and God saw all that He made and said, it is very good” God made everything good, but Sin corrupted everything because of the fall of Adam, sin came in to a perfect world and we have been fighting its effect ever since.

Can I tell you something??? Life is not FAIR-But God is GOOD.

Jesus told us “In this world You will have trouble. But don’t fear! I have over come the world” John 16:33
OK somebody is thinking how does that help me? That’s a fair question, Let me ask you, What if the breakthrough in your life is just on the other side of what you are suffering right now? Sin is Bad and Bad is Bad and even though God didn’t make it Bad, he can use something that is BAD to change your life. Sometimes through the pain of suffering some good things can come out of it. James says “Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” James 1:2-4

I think the better question is not WHY? But WHAT? What am I lacking?  What are you Teaching me through this experience? What are you working on?  God, What do you want to do in me? You will never know how deep your faith in Christ is unless you go through suffering, because then and only then does God have the chance to touch your life in a divine and Holy moment, when your are in desperate need of a saviour, He has the opportunity to be that for you, when you have exhausted yourself he can fill you with HIS spirit and be YOUR HEALER, Making you better, making you complete and that’s the way I see it in My Market.

The Pain of Loss

July 27th, 2011

Few things get our attention like Pain, sometimes it comes as a warning that we are close to being hurt like when you feel heat and pull your hand back, other times it is deep and intense like when you unexpectly fall and it takes a long time to recover. The psalmist David writes these words in Psalm 38:17 “For I am about to fall, and my pain is ever with me.”

Jesus said “In this world there will be trouble……but don’t fear I have over come the world.”
Pain is a very real part of this life and it is impossable to avoid. Today I want to look at some common responses to loss, first what not to do.

1. Ignore the pain. Some people try to push it down or tough it out.
2. Blame others. It’s so and so’s fault, mom, dad, God, me
3. Withdraw. Check out, disengage, build a wall,  hide behind drugs and alcohol.
these are never good response’s. King David has been called a man after God’s own heart, yet he missed it big time on several occasions. One of the times  he was caught in sin, he sets an example for healing from the pain of loss in the story  found in the Old Testament book of 2 Samuel chapter 12.

After an affair and murder David comes to his senses and confesses “I have sinned” and from that point in the story is where we learn how to heal from loss.
1. Face it honestly. 2 samuel 19
2. Instead of blaming, I will trust God.
3. Instead of withdrawing, I will share my pain. 2 Samuel 12:24
Paul writes to the church “Carry each other’s burdens”, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”

Sometimes we don’t understand it or agree with it, but it still hurts deeply and with as much love as I can muster I would say to you don’t miss an oppertunity to trust God with your pain because He is really the only one who will understand fully, and thats the way I see it in my market.

Learning the Truth

July 21st, 2011

Christianity is not a self help or self improvement course. There is nothing in your old sin nature that God wants to improve, that was destroyed at the cross. The key to transformation is Knowing the Truth.

Since you have heard all about Jesus and the truth that is in him, throw off your old evil nature and your former way of life, which is rotten through and through, full of lust and deception. Instead, there must be a spiritual renewal of  your thoughts and attitudes.  You must put on your new nature because you are a new person…….(Ephesians 4:21-24 NLT)

The Truth is, only Truth will change your life.

Nothing will change in your life until you are willing to face some hard thing about your life.

Your weaknesses……….
Your relationships………
Your own nature……..

Nothing changes until you are willing to learn (know) the truth and face it. And Jesus is Truth.
The bible teaches  that we can learn and know the truth.
“Since you have heard all about Jesus and have learned the truth that is in him…..” Ephesians 4:21

My life before Christ had conditioned me to believe lies.  It told all the things I would never be. Jesus tells the truth: all the things I am in Him.

We have to stop letting lies into our life, things that are not always trust worthy TV, Books, Internet, and people. Not everything you hear or read is the truth. That is why it is SO IMPORTANT to have a daily devotional time with God, so he can get the Truth into your life.

Do you really want to change your life??????? Know and learn the truth that is only found in Jesus Christ.  And thats the way I see it my market.

Kingdom Apps, Part 3 Treasure

July 18th, 2011

We finish up this week with part 3 Treasure, Yes money, but before you grab your purse and think all we want is your money (The Church or Preachers) I would like for you to consider all the bible has to say about the subject.

Blessings always flow from obedience!

The book of Deuteronomy has several chapters in it that the overall theme is Obedience chapter 4 through 11 deal with this issue, please read it for yourself.

Jesus talked more about money than Heaven and Hell combind. In the gospel of Matthew He tell us there is a right and wrong place to store treasure. Matthew 6:19 & 20
Not on earth, but in heaven. Things that are placed in God’s hand can never be lost.

He also tells us that there is a right and wrong motive and here are some of the things he is concerned about.
1. It’s a heart issue. Matthew 6:21
2. Is your love God or Money? Matthew 6:24, 1 Timothy 6:10

Jesus tell two story’s  about the wrong attitude of money you can read them Luke chapter 12 and Matthew 19.  In life you will find givers and takers, the enemy is a taker he will promise, but never deliver. Jesus is a giver, he always delivers. John 10:10

Being blessed means having supernatural power working For us. By contrast, living under the cure means having supernatural power working Against us. The choice is ours! And thats the way I see it in my market

Kingdom Apps, Part 2 Time

July 14th, 2011

Countless times in the bible we read about ordinary people with nothing to offer, in great difficulty, people that where out of options, at the end of there rope whatever you want to call it, found hope and strength after spending some time with God.

I often wonder why we try to live our life apart from the ONE who made us???? One time during the earthly ministry of our Lord Jesus, he asked the men that where following him when the work got tough and some people left “are you going to leave me too?” And Peter answered him “Lord Where would we go? You have the words of life” Why is this so hard to learn?

There Is NO Life Apart From Him. To here the words of life we must spend time with the Author of life.

Here are some keys

1. Set a time every day: Ps 63: early I will seek You.
2. Set a special place: Mk 1:35: Jesus got up and went out to an isolated place to pray.
3. Set a method: A planed devotion.

If you really wants to go deep with God…………..spend some time  getting to know him.
and thats the way I see it in my market.

Kingdom Apps, Part 1

July 5th, 2011

Have you noticed these new smart phones they have an APP. for everything; You can surf the web, Find out what your friends had for breakfast, (if you care about that sort of thing) get the New’s and Weather, play games, Text, and if your in the mood call someone.  Amazing what you can do with one of these thing but, the most Amazing thing about these phones is you can get an App. for God’s word, right on your phone very cool. I wonder how many people actually take advantage of that App?.

The next three week’s @ MPC we are in a series called Kingdom Apps. And yes it’s a stewardship series.
This week we are focused on Talent, using what God has given you for his glory. Nehemiah Ch. 3 is a good place to start.
How do we accomplish the impossible task of changing the world? When everyone repairs the wall by their house. There is a Key verse in this chapter 3:28 “Each one repaired the section immediately across from his own house.” That is where we start.
Please read this for yourself.  When Nehemiah get’s the bad news of the shape Jerusalem is in, Check out how he responds. Not a woe is me attitude, He responds in faith.
1. He prays and fasts, this is still a good response to bad news.
2. He gets a vision of what can be.
3. He takes action, in other words he goes to work. (also a good response to bad news)

What if you used your talent to change the:
Economy, Gave somebody a job or helped somebody get a job.
Socially,  Helped out the widow, the orphan, single mom, helped someone receive justice.
Physical Health, Pray for someone’s healing, take someone to the doctor, get them some medicine.
Families, Help one get better.
Spiritually, Help one get stronger.
What would happen if you began to “repair the walls of your city”?  You would change the world for somebody…………..and that somebody could be YOU and thats the way I see it in my market.

What did you expect?

July 4th, 2011

The Lord has been teaching me again, which is of no surprise to me, there some things that I don’t quite get the first time….well the second, and third time either. some things should be so easy to do; slow to speak – fast to listen, this has been hard for me, actually most of this Faith stuff has been hard.

The Gospel is very simple: He (Jesus) Died for me so I don’t have too.
The Faith that the Holy Spirit put in me is based on His (God) faithfulness to me. not my faithfulness Him
Yielding is my Job.
Life and Death is in the power of my tongue.
God is no respecter of persons, He will lift up who he wills, He will take down the same. He chooses.

expectations and reality is another issue. The farther my expectations are from reality, the higher the degree of frustration and it’s not that is better or worse; it’s what I think it is that makes the difference. The Bible teaches “as a man thinks, so he is”……..a long time ago I heard an old minister preach a sermon called “Stink’n Think’n” The Apostle Paul said “renew your mind” good advice because I still have some “Stink’n Think’n” How about you?  And thats the way I see it in my market.

Gods Man

June 20th, 2011

Happy Fathers Day.

I love being a Dad, I wish I could tell you about all the wonderful times I had with my Dad but, If the truth be told I can only remember only a handful of times that he spent with me and only one or two of those did he act like he wanted to be there.  He was always chasing success “The next Big Deal” someone or something else always had his attention. The family suffered because of it. The really sad thing is he never found what he was looking for.

Most of what I learned from my Dad is what I didn’t want to be for my kid’s. One of the things I wanted to do for my kid’s was BE THERE, and if you have kids you need to learn this Now. I know that we have to work and have things to do but, kids would really rather just have YOU. The time you spend with your children is the most significant investment you can make, and the reward is eternal.

No matter where you are in life you can learn to be Gods man for your family. I didn’t know anything about being a Dad, so I looked for men who were doing right. They weren’t perfect men but they wanted to be and I began to imitate them. Here are Five characteristics that where evident in their lives. Philippians 2:19-30 flushes this out.

1. God’s man is a man of compassion. A man who puts relationship before results
“all the others care only for themselves.” v. 21
2. God’s man is a man of consistency. A man who puts character before conformity.
“…. Timothy has proven himself……he has served…”
3. God’s man is a man of cooperation. A man who puts cooperation before competition.
” I thought I should send Epaphroditus, My brother, co-worker, and fellow solider” v. 25
4. God’s man is a man of commitment. A man who puts the cause of Christ before comfort.
” He was ill; in fact he almost died” v. 27
5. God’s man is a man of courage. A man who puts service before security.
“…. give him honor…. for he risk his life for the work of Christ…..” v. 29-30

God’s man is a ordinary guy with extraordinary values, a man that lets the Holy Spirit guide and direct his life and thats the way I see it in my market

Finding “The One”

June 14th, 2011

There are two choices in life that are the most important choices you will ever make.

The most important: Choosing Jesus Christ as your Savior.
The second most important: Choosing a Mate.

In the book of beginning Genesis chapter 24 is the beautiful story Isaac and Rebekah. The father of faith Abraham sends a trusted servant to find “The One” for his son Isaac, Isaac the promised one. God made good on his promise to Abraham to give him a son and through him many would come, A Great Nation would be born and also the blessings of God.

As we read the story some very important Principles are found. It is interesting to me that God only uses about 31 verses of scripture to describe how everything came to be “creation” and when he describes how we are to find a mate he uses 67………. Do  you think he is trying to tell us something about the importance of this subject? I think so. Here are four things to take notice of,

The first thing to do when looking for a mate is: Pray (v.12)

The second: Watch (v13-21)

The third: Turn

The fourth: walk through (v.67)

It works well when we ask God to reveal His choice. One of the obvious problems is waiting and watching when we fail here we end up in a wrong relationship and here are a few of the wrong kinds relationships.
Crowbar relationship: Always pushing and pulling against God, His Plan, His principles, His word, and having the idea he will change his mind, so I can be forgiven later but right now I am going to do what I want to.
Caveman relationship: Good at killing things and dragging you around.
The Bad Taco relationship: Hot and spicy, but leaves you bloated and tired. I know better, but eat it anyway.
Romeo & Juliet: Hasty and emotional – Always running ahead- Always dramatic- Always ends in death of the relationship. The relationship is based deception, not to each other, but to everyone else- Parents, Families, and Friends.
When looking for “The One” take time, ask God then watch what can happen when you don’t get in a hurry. And thats the way I see it in my market.

Healthy Families Are No Accident

June 6th, 2011

Somethings, good things have happened on accident, can you imagine  a world with out Corn Flakes, Microwave Ovens, Silly Putty, Slinky, Potato Chips, Play-Doh,  all those things happened by accident. Healthy Families don’t belong in that list. Some really great things have happened on accident , but Healthy Families don’t,. healthy families whether is with children or just a couple need to be there for them, to spend time in intimacy, maybe using toys like a hands free vibrator to keep the fire on the relationship.

The drive verse we have been using in series has been Joshua 24:15 “but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

Joshua is conveying the idea that there is something intentional about following the Lord,  it just doesn’t happen on accident.

Matthew chapter seven gives us some advice on how to have a Healthy Family. Here are a few of the principles that promote a healthy family.

1. Healthy Families are built on honesty. (vv.1-5)
2. Healthy Families are protected by faithfulness. (vv. 6)
3. Healthy Families are built on thoughtfulness. (vv. 7-12)
The golden rule V. 12 – living in right relationship with each other
4. Healthy Families rely on deliberate choices. (vv.13-14)

Everyone in the family has a part to play and the biggest part is becoming the best you, you can be and the Apostle Paul gives a good place to start Romans 12:2 “Don’t be conformed……….but renew your mind. and thats the way I see it in my market.
